Editorial Standards & Corrections

Channel9Asia is committed to accurate, fair and independent journalism. These standards guide everything published on this site.

Accuracy and verification

  • We verify facts before publication and seek confirmation from more than one source where a claim is significant or contested.
  • We attribute information to its source as precisely as we can, and distinguish between what is confirmed and what is reported or alleged.
  • We are especially careful with claims made during conflicts and crises, where misinformation is common, and with official statements from any government or armed group.

Independence

Editorial decisions are taken by our editors on the basis of news value and public interest. We do not accept payment for coverage, and any sponsored or partner content would be clearly labelled as such.

Fairness

We aim to represent relevant viewpoints fairly and to give people and organisations that are the subject of serious allegations an opportunity to respond.

News and opinion

News reporting and opinion are kept separate. Opinion and analysis pieces are published in the Opinion section and labelled accordingly.

Bylines

Articles are published under the Channel 9 Asia News Desk byline, reflecting the collective editorial responsibility of our newsroom.

Sources

We protect confidential sources. We use anonymous sourcing only when the information is important, cannot be obtained on the record, and we have good reason to believe the source is reliable.

Images and embedded media

We credit images and third-party media wherever possible. We do not alter news photographs in ways that mislead.

Corrections

We correct significant errors as quickly as possible. When a correction is made to a published article, the article is updated and, where the error is material, a note explaining the correction is added to the article.

To request a correction, use our contact page and choose Correction. Please include the article link and the specific information you believe is inaccurate. Every correction request is reviewed by an editor.
